Perspective

Sometimes, or I should say, many times, all we need is a little perspective.  Stop, step back, BREATHE, and take another look at what has been plaguing you.   We get tunnel vision, and all you see, focus on, and harp over, is that obstacle in your way, or the pain in your side.  Stop, look away, look around you, and then look back, and try to assess the situation again.  It’s much more difficult to see a solution during an issue or problem, or obstacle is occurring to you, while you are in the situation.  You become engulfed, almost suffocated by the issue and problem that is plaguing you.  This is why you need stop, take a deep breath, and attempt to look at it from the outside in.  Try to see the situation through another’s eyes, through another point of view, through another perspective.  This can shine a much different light on the issue than you had been focusing on.  You may even be able to figure out a solution to your problem, looking from the outside in.  Another prospective, can give you the answer you were looking for.

Put it into perspective, is that behemoth mountain really that, or is it just a mole hill blown way out of proportion?  Sometimes we need a little reminder that molehills and anthills are just that, and  not Mount Everest.  I leave you with a scene from Men In Black, which demonstrates exactly how important perspective really is, because your reality could be someone else’s dream.

Positive Power

Image

Think positive. Yes! Positive! Positivo! Anyway you say it, I want you to think, yes, I can do this.  Repeat it to yourself, I can do ANYTHING I put my mind to. And you can.  Don’t just say it, but believe it.  You have to plant the seed of belief and courage in your mind, in order to be able to achieve your many goals and stay on the path to these goals.  We all need encouragement, and when found from within, it’s much more powerful then when it is found from another.  I’m not discrediting the very powerful effect support from your friends, family, and mentors has, but I want to emphasize how paramount one’s own internal motivation is.  When you think to yourself, I CAN do it… I can do it, pretty soon it turns into I DID IT!

It very important to for you, me, us, to believe, and know, within ourselves, that we are capable of anything we put our mind to.  The power of positive thinking is very real, and an integral part of achieving your goals.  Besides if you don’t believe in your goals and aspirations, who will? YOU have to envision your goal, completing it, attaining it, reaching it, because the more you envision the finish line, the better and faster you will actually reach it, and achieve it.

You have to stay positive, and not get discouraged when you veer off track, or realize you need to make a change.  Don’t dwell on the past mishaps, take them as learning experiences, and move on, make the change, and continue on.  Believe in yourself, and others will believe in you too.  Confidence in yourself is key, especially when you are leading the blazing trail to your goal.

“Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead.” – Louisa May Alcott

Take the Leap

Okay… so… you’ve made the decision , or at least the acknowledgement that you may be heading down the wrong path to reach your goal… YET! You still haven’t changed your path.  Most likely because of fear of what you may leave behind, or fear of what may happen if you do change your path. Change is hard, and I don’t pretend to be immune to fear. Fear is real! Fear is heavy, and debilitating, but we must find our courage to confront the fear, conquer it, make the change, and continue the path to our destination.  Fake it! Fake the courage.  In fact, Fake it till you Make it, as I’ve heard before.   I’m talking about faking your courage to conquer and confront the fear to make the change needed to reach your destination.

Take the leap! Run and jump off that cliff and into the sparkling water below.  It just takes one split moment to either take the leap, or turn around and stay on the path you’re on.  You must realize that you have the ability to make the change, and the ability to become who and what you want to be.  Don’t let others, and the fear of others reactions shape your future, you must take your future into your own hands, and push, claw, and scratch your way to your goal.  Trust me; it will all be worth it…

“It’s not about what it is, it’s about what it can become.” ~ Dr. Seuss, The Lorax

Make it Happen

Did you have the courage to make the change? Yes!? Great! How did it feel to know that you were able to single handedly direct your path to your goal? All you did was take the bull by the horns, and move it out of the way to take the right path.  I know “all you did” sound like I am minimizing your accomplishment, but really, its to show how EASY it is for you to make the change.  All you needed was a little bit of courage, some adrenaline, and to be bold.

If you haven’t made the change… what is stopping you? The sooner you decide to make the change to continue on the correct path to reach your goal, the sooner you can focus on your goal again.  I know, it’s scary to admit to yourself that you’ve been going to wrong way, but c’mon, the sooner you admit it, the sooner you’ll turn onto the right road… and head on your merry way.

Be brave, be bold, be brilliant!

Trail blaze, and drive full speed ahead to reach your destination.  But be sure to evaluate, and re-evaluate your goals strategy along the way.  It may take more than one adjustment along the way to reach your goal sooner, and accomplish certain milestones along the way.  Remember to periodically examine the path you have chosen, and whether it is still the most efficient and effective way to reach your goal destination.

“Freedom lies in being bold.” ~ Robert Frost

Great Father

You’ve been waiting on the edge of your seats haven’t you!? Well, drum rooollll please….

“Courage! What makes a king out of a slave? Courage! What makes the flag on the mast to wave? Courage! What makes the elephant charge his tusk in the misty mist, or the dusky dusk? What makes the muskrat guard his musk? Courage! What makes the sphinx the seventh wonder? Courage! What makes the dawn come up like thunder? Courage! What makes the Hottentot so hot? What puts the “ape” in apricot? What have they got that I ain’t got?… Courage!”

That’s right! Courage! Don’t be like The Cowardly Lion in the 1939 Classic The Wizard of Oz, get the courage to make the change you need to reach your goals.  FAKE it, if you have too! You may surprise yourself at how convincing you can be at it.  Change is not easy, but a necessary part of life, and of goal destination.  When your courage falters, remind yourself, “If I don’t make things happen for myself, who will!?” You need to make this change to be happy, and to reach your goal.  Also, ask yourself, “if I don’t make this change, will I be happy?”. The answer is most likely no, so do it! Take responsibility for your own happiness, and goal attainment, blaze the path to the finish line, and have the courage to make a change for the better ending… happy ending…  goal attainment.

P.S. I also do not want to ignore the fact that today is Father’s day, and I would like to wish a Happy Father’s day to all the amazing, devoted, and inspirational dad’s out there, without guidance, support, and a helping hand, lives would be much less rich and full.  Remember…

Change is the only constant

You’ve probably noticed, that I changed my blog lay out… sorry, but it was necessary. The previous format was not conducive to certain other pages and widgets I wanted visible. So in an effort to lessen some confusion, and a great way to Segway into my topic, I bestow my new layout. 😀

Change! Or… Change? Either way, Change is necessary.

First, recognize that you need to make changes.  Yes, you’ve set your goals, and derived your path, but sometimes, that path needs to be changed, or tweaked, but truth be told… you can’t continue on the same bumpy, messed up, taking you the wrong way, path.  This may be the hardest step, admitting to yourself that a change needs to be made, but you’ve recognized it, acknowledged it, and now you can take some action to do it.

It’s difficult to admit to yourself you may have been going south, when you should have been going north (pun intended), but now you have the ability to change directions, and get going on the right path. Review your current derived path, is it the fastest way to your destination?  Is it the right way to your goal? Or do you need to make a slight (or big) change to the path you are on?

I want you to ask yourself if you are happy with your current choices and path to your goal. If the answer is yes, good job!, and have a glass of wine tonight. If the answer is no, dig deep, and figure out what change needs to be made… and next time we’ll talk about what the next step is…

HINT: Start mustering up some of that courage…

Away we go…

Away we go...

“I nodded, pretending to be a hundred times more courageous than I felt. But that was the thing about courage. Sometimes you had to fake it to feel it.” ~ Lisa Tawn Bergren, Waterfall

Have fun, feel free, and take the lead to reach your destination. I like to call goal setting, The G-Force, aka “quad-D* honey”: Decide, Derive, Drive and reach your Destination.

Decide your business (or any) goals, Derive your path, Drive that force to the finish line to reach your final destination. And of course add a little humor along the way, it makes the trip that much more fun, and boy does time fly when you’re having it, fun that is.

Decide your goals, then derive the path and take leaps and bounds, and cross the rainbows to the pot of gold at the end. Dig deep to find the drive and motivation to keep pushing, even if times get tough, and you feel like giving up, you’ll reach your destination, lost shoe, torn shirt, and disheveled hair (if you have any left), but you’ll reach it. All you’ll need is courage, whether it be real, fake, or some trinket you hold in your pocket. Sometimes just by faking the courage, you’ll fake YOURself out, and face it…

Let’s take that plunge down the proverbial Niagara Falls, and have the courage to jump into that water below, and endure the craziness along the way.
Not to be more sappy than happy! BUT! Goals are attained by having a strategic path to take you aaaaallll the way baby! Homerun! Goal! Strike… Giro! What have you, courage, humor and humility will definitely get you further on the path to reach all your personal and business goals…

Oh! By the way… call me Lilly 😉
